SEO consultancy for Cosmopolitan Alicante through Mad Media

My involvement with Cosmopolitan Alicante was as Mad Media’s SEO consultant. The work focused on the gym and wellness centre’s search visibility as part of my collaboration with the agency.

The April 2017 report shows how searches, rankings and website traffic were analysed. This case concerns that SEO work; the images provide context for the centre and its digital presence.

Local SEO for gym searches in Alicante

A sports centre offers activities and services that people search for in different ways. The analysis therefore considered brand queries alongside searches combining gyms and location.

Monitoring combined Google Search Console information, keyword trends and Analytics acquisition data. Together, these sources distinguished appearances in Google, clicks and visits arriving through other channels.

Location changes how rankings should be interpreted

The report recorded a specific observation: for “gimnasios en alicante”, the tracking tool and a check made from Alicante showed different positions. The document explicitly noted that geolocation affects the result.

This distinction matters in local SEO. An isolated ranking lacks context without the location, query and measurement date. Monitoring should retain those references so comparisons remain meaningful.

Organic traffic, content and seasonality

In April 2017, organic Google search was the main acquisition source. The analysis also separated direct, social and referral traffic and considered visitor behaviour.

The document associated April’s traffic decline with Easter and activity in the sector, while noting improvements in visibility and CTR. This avoided treating every reduction in visits as a loss of search rankings.

The work also considered the direction of blog content. Someone arriving to read an article has a different journey from a visitor looking for opening hours, activities or membership information.

What this gym SEO case demonstrates

The consultancy connected local searches with an interpretation of traffic that reflected the business. Rankings, content and seasonality needed to be considered together when prioritising the next actions.

This is a historical SEO case undertaken through Mad Media. It does not attribute the website’s design to my work or present 2017 figures as current results.
